Various dates each month Family History Society of Arizona has 7 chapters in the Phoenix Metro area.  Each chapter meets monthly and includes a free novice class before each meeting. 2nd Saturday of each month Sun Country TMG (The Master Genealogist) Users Group (SCTMG) are held on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 10:00 AM until noon at the West Valley Genealogy Society Library, 1222 North 111th Avenue, Youngtown, AZ 85363. The meetings are geared to all levels of users and guests are welcome.
2nd Saturday of each month, September through May Due to scheduling conflicts with Mohave Community College, Tri-State Genealogical Society is currently meeting at the Laughlin Library, 2840 Needles Hwy., Laughlin, NV 89028. We are an Arizona organization with members who live in Mohave County, Arizona; Clark County, Nevada and San Bernardino County, California.

July 16-28 Legacy Genealogy Cruise 2008 starts in London, cruises to Denmark; Berlin; St. Petersburg, Russia; Helsinki, Finland, Tallinn, Estonia, and Stockholm, Sweden. July 17 As part of the commemoration of the Carnegie Library's 100 years in Phoenix, the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records has put together a monthly lunchtime speaker series on topics relating to the library and to the history of Phoenix and Arizona. All presentations will last from 12PM to 1PM, are free and are open to the public. This month: Dr. Jeremy Rowe, "Postcard Images of Arizona, 1900-1920". Jul 29-Aug 20 The National Archives, Pacific Region in Laguna Niguel, Californiawill be hosting a “Primarily Teaching”, a National Archives Teachers’ Workshop for those interested in researching and using primary source documents in the classroom. Participants will learn how to do research in historical records, create classroom material from primary sources and present documents in ways that sharpen students’ skills and enthusiasm for history, social studies and the humanities. The classes begin at 9AM and end at 4PM daily. Registration is $100. Aug 20 As part of the commemoration of the Carnegie Library's 100 years in Phoenix, the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records has put together a monthly lunchtime speaker series on topics relating to the library and to the history of Phoenix and Arizona. Oct 18 Family History Society of Arizona's annual fall seminar.will be at St. Matthew United Methodist Church, 2540 W. Baseline Road, Mesa, AZ. In honor of the society’s 25th anniversary, the In Search of Annie Moore video will be the first part of a two-part program. Annie Moore was the first passenger registered as coming though Ellis Island and the video traces her life after coming to America. The second part will feature Arizona’s historian, Marshall Trimble. Registration begins at 8AM and will conclude at 2PM with lunch included.. Member registration fee is $35 until Oct. 11. Non-member charge is $40. Oct 26-Nov 2 Wholly Genes, Inc., of Columbia, Maryland, is proud to announce the 2008 Genealogy Conference and Cruise, the largest family history conference on the seas. This year's event will include at least 16 hours of expert presentations on genealogy methodology and tools. Instructors include: Elizabeth Shown Mills, Barbara Vines Little, John Grenham, John Titford, Craig Scott, Megan Smolenyak Smolenyak, Cyndi Howells, and Tony Burroughs, with private consultations with Robert Charles Anderson, Sandra Hewlett, and Dick Eastman. Nov 1 Northern Arizona Genealogical Society’s annual seminar will feature Geoffrey Rasmussen, Regional Marketing Director for Millennia Corporation and who was instrumental in creation of the Legacy Family Tree 7.0 software program. The seminar will be held at the Founders’ Room, Prescott Public Library, 215 E. Goodwin Street, Prescott. The seminar will be based on the Legacy Family Tree 7.0 genealogy software program for people to record and track their family history, but may include other genealogical topics not related to Legacy. Nov 8 The Arizona State Genealogical Society is sponsoring an all day seminar featuring John Philip Colleta, Ph.D. The Seminar will be held at the Christ Church United Methodist Fellowship Hall, 655 N. Craycroft Road in Tucson, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with registration starting at 8:30. His topics will be: “How to Prepare for Successful Research in European Records”, “Lesser-Used Federal Records: A Sampling for Fresh Research Ideas”, “Using Original and Derivative Sources: How to Evaluate Evidence”, “Hacks and Hookers & Putting Up Pickles: Snares of Yesterday's English”. The Embassy Suites Williams Center at 5336 E. Broadway in Tucson (Broadway and Craycroft) will be the recommended hotel for those coming from out of town. Nov 14-15 Cyberexchange 101: Learn the tech to trace your roots conference -- Mesa, Arizona Family History Expo 2008 at the Mesa Convention Center, 263 N. Center Street, Mesa. Jan 10 The Irish Ancestral Research Association (TIARA) is organizing an Irish genealogy cruise departing from Fort Lauderdale, Florida and spending eight nights in the eastern Caribbean. Both American and Irish specialists will be presenting topics of Irish genealogical interest. Prices range from $900 per person for an inside stateroom to $1725 per person for a Junior Suite with a balcony.
